Why Choose Healthy Smiles Dental Care for CEREC Same-Day Dental Crowns?

What Are CEREC Same-Day Dental Crowns?

The purpose of a dental crown is to cover the entire portion of a tooth that is visible above the gumline. Its job is to strengthen the tooth and allow it to function normally. Traditionally, crowns are created via a multi-appointment process that requires your dentist to communicate closely with a local dental laboratory.

CEREC crowns are different. CEREC is an acronym that stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. That sounds like quite a mouthful, but the basic concept is simple. We have advanced technology in our office that allows us to scan your teeth and use an advanced ceramic milling machine to create your crown in just a single appointment.

The Process of Getting a CEREC Same-Day Dental Crown

If you need a dental crown, we will start the process by preparing your tooth. Usually, this involves removing a portion of its enamel so that it will fit well beneath its restoration. Then, we will use a digital scanner to capture an impression of your teeth, which will then be transferred to our advanced software system. The impression will serve as the basis for designing your crown.

After your dentist inputs the necessary information into our computer system, the design for your restoration will be sent to our in-house milling unit, which will create your crown out of a single block of dental-grade porcelain. Once the crown is ready, we will verify that it fits perfectly before we send you home to enjoy your restored smile.
