Technology has completely transformed the way dentistry is performed today. Many of these advancements have made the process of detecting oral health issues and planning treatments much easier, and we’ve taken full advantage of them here at Jewel Lake Dental. Read below to learn more about some of the advancements that we’ve adopted into our own dental office.
With an intraoral camera, we can closely examine your teeth and gums from a variety of angles, which can help us catch problems that might have escaped our eyes otherwise. We can then display the images on a monitor so that you can see for yourself.
Taking X-rays is often our best option for examining the bones around your mouth for signs of decay and other issues. Digital technology has improved the X-ray process so that we can see the results right away and dramatically reduce the level of radiation emitted.
With a cone beam scanner, we can create a 3D model of your mouth that shows us your teeth along with your jawbone, underlying nerves, and other potentially relevant structures. This technology is generally used to plan certain procedures or design oral appliances.
